TTsKO

TTsKO (Short for tryokhtsvetnaya kamuflirovannaya odezdha) (Three Colour Camouflage) was a pattern developed during project "Butan" in the early 80's and lasted well into the Russian Federation, seeming to be completely replaced by 1994/5. TTsKO was used mainly by VDV and Naval Infantry units. Modern day Ukraine still uses a modernized variation of TTsKO for their armed forces.

Pattern History
Development began sometime in the dark 80's, with a project called "Butan". This development project spawned along with the usual TTsKO also a few other, lesser known patterns. TTsKO saw its first use in the Soviet war in Afghanistan in this conflict it was issued in limited quantities to Officers and Aircrew members. During the First Chechen war TTsKO was still a common sight, mostly among Naval Infantry troops. TTsKO was still marginally used in the Second Chechen war, at least by Naval Infantry and some less fortunate MVD troops.
Variants
Summer
VDV cut
Like the usual "M88" uniform, but missing the lower pockets on the jacket and has sewn on shoulderboards, it has also got a pistol holster sewn onto the inside of the jacket. It has suspenders to hold the pants up during parachute jumps, and holes in the jacket so the suspenders can be worn underneath it. The jacket is worn tucked into the trousers. The left leg pocket is sewn into two divided spaces for AK-74 30rnd magazines. These uniforms come in all the colors of the rainbow.
M88 cut
Just like the M88 "Afghanka", but camouflage colored. Most noted for it's use among the Naval Infantry of the Soviet Union and Russia, but also by the "grunts" of the Armed Forces. These come in all the colurs of the rainbow.
Tanker
The same as the khaki Tanker suits used in Afghanistan but in camouflage pattern. Production started in the early 90's. Has a Makarov pocket built in the left breast pocket, however there is no lanyard as commonly found in other uniforms. Also comes with a camouflaged belt. Jacket should be worn tucked in.
Winter
VDV cut
Like it's summer version, this has sewn on shoulderboards, the jacket also has two belt loops at the back. Unlike the summer version, this jacket is not worn tucked into the trousers.
M88 cut
Like the usual M88 "Afghanka" winter uniform, but with belt loops on the back. Most noted for it's use among the Naval Infantry of the Soviet Union and Russia, but also by the "grunts" of the Armed Forces.
