VDV mess kit

An updated version of the standard messkit, this three-part device combines both a messkit and water bottle. For the usual, older Soviet messkit, see Messkit.
The three-part VDV-messkit, taken into service sometime taken into service in the 70's, is in every way better than the usual messkit and Canteen. It comes with an excellent, actually easy to use pouch. This pouch, unlike the one of the standard canteen, doesn't need two men to operate it. It seems the production of this model continued long into the Russian era, with pouches made in Flora camouflage, and the bottles sometimes updated to plastic. The usual 6Sh92 sometimes comes with a pouch for this VDV-messkit, on the 6Sh92-3 it is a standard feature. Sometimes these bottles can be seen in use by other than VDV, usually the MVD. There are photos of soldiers who have taken the VDV-canteen and stuffed it inside the standard canteen pouch, these can easily be spotted from their square appearance.
